Nexus on TREND

Check out the interview between our CEO, Alan Jackson, and TREND’s Amy McGeachy as they talk shop about NEXUS.
Who we are, what we do, and how we are making a difference in our community.

Why choose Nexus?

Nexus presents a logical alternative to site-built methods that reduces inefficiencies and offers numerous advantages.

Speed

Site preparation and module construction occur simultaneously. This creates a significant reduction in the overall time to complete a Nexus project as compared to other, more traditional forms of construction.

Precision

Having construction occurring off site in a controlled environment allows for precision in the manufacturing process. It also enables multiple trades to collaborate under one roof.

Budget Certainty

Because the whole process occurs in a controlled environment, our modular construction eliminates unexpected cost accumulations. Our clients can rest at ease knowing that what we quote them is what they’ll end up paying.

Minimal Site Preparation

Only the basic utility hook ups and minimal foundation work are required on site. Nexus buildings are completed off site, then we deliver and install the finished unit, ready to use.

Consistent Quality

With repeatable designs and processes, clients can expect the same high-quality product exiting our manufacturing facilities time and time again. Regardless of the shape, size, or purpose of the project, we put our heart into every detail.

Sustainability

Nexus buildings can be designed to meet environmentally sustainable principles. We encourage any systems that reduce energy consumption, including off-grid and passive design.

A bit about us…

Our team has decades of experience in construction and development - working with owners, architects, and engineers to design and build unique projects. As a specialty contractor, Nexus provides pre-construction assistance, budgeting, project schedule development, and construction management services.
We deliver award-winning solutions by continually innovating modular buildings.

We are based in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. As proud members of the community, we source as many resources and trade services as possible from local businesses and professionals.

Questions we get asked, frequently.

What kinds of material do you use?

We use locally sourced, high-quality materials that meet or exceed Provincial/National building codes.
In terms of the specifics, we work with a huge range of materials. A good rule of thumb is: If we can get it to our shop, we can likely incorporate it into a build.

Can we customize our Nexus unit?

Of course! We encourage the customization. We want you to be able to create something that suits your individual needs and the needs of your property. Gas fireplaces, wood stoves, solar panels, composting toilets, and more! We can work with you to help build your dream space.

How long does it take to build a Nexus unit?

Once we start construction and have permits in place, we can usually deliver your new home in 16 weeks or less. In the mean time, you don’t have to deal with construction noise, site disruption and litter, or organizing and coordinating trades - we take care of all that.

Are Nexus units covered under warranty?

Absolutely! We offer a comprehensive warranty on our homes.

Where do you deliver to?

We currently deliver Nexus units all over Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
In the near future we are hoping to be able to build for clients on the Lower Mainland and even in the Interior. For the time being, though, we are focusing on local projects while our team and operation grows and evolves.
For those of you who aren’t on Island time, we appreciate your patience - we’re working on our plan for global expansion and domination. Just give us time.

Is Nexus CSA Certified?

Absolutely! We are CSA certified to build CSA A277 and CSA Z240 modules.

What is CSA Certification?

The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certifies all kinds of goods from washing machines to modular homes. While a normal building requires engineering and building inspections, a CSA-certified home has already met the local requirements for home building. Nexus CSA units meet (and exceed) the standards for B.C., Alberta, and other provinces using the National Building Code.
“CSA-certified” is an assurance of the design, quality, and workmanship of our homes. A pre-certified design and the ability to complete inspections in the factory reduces the cost of our buildings and results in a faster turn-around on delivery.

Why haven’t I already started planning my new Nexus unit?!

We don’t know! We’ve been waiting for you to reach out so we can get going. No worries though, it’s never too late to begin.

Here, let’s get started…
